Next week the Falklands Islands will be participating at the Island Games, to be held in Guernsey with twenty-four islands competing and running from July 8/14. Falklands is sending 76 athletes in ten teams, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Bowls, Swimming Shooting, Golf, Table Tennis, Cycling, and Football. Read full article

Whilst I will not be in Guernsey to cheer the teams on; I will be greeting the contingent from the Falklands that travel to the Royal Welsh Show later on this month. Generally, they are participating in the sheep shearing competition and it is always good to see the enthusiasm and energy they generate among the audience. They are worthy opponents and a good advertisement for the Falkland Island's people. If any readers know of any Islanders that will be attending the show, then please pass on the invitation to register at the International Pavilion where they will enjoy a dedicated lounge with refreshments and free wifi.
