The world's average temperature reached a new high on Monday 3 July, topping 17 degrees Celsius for the first time. US researchers said the new record was the highest in any instrumental record dating back to the end of the 19th century. Read full article

    Phew, just got back to the State of Jefferson in the good state of Oregon (Lat 34°N) and temperatures are 90° F, or above, all week. Meanwhile, back on the shores of the lovely Nordeste (Lat 5° S) I left behind, it's a balmy 74° F; don't fee too smart about coming back now.
