Argentina's Defense Minister Jorge Taiana was reported Monday to have signed a letter of intent with Italian aircraft manufacturer Leonardo for the acquisition of eight AW 109 helicopters for surveillance operations in the South Atlantic and thus strengthen the Navy's patrolling capabilities in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The Problem with Leonardo`s AW190 Helicopters is the connection with the UK (Westland Helicopters in Yeovil Somerset) as some of those parts are made in the UK.

With no weapons on board, only equipped for surveillance or air sea rescue, they might be alright.

It doesn’t give them any new, or enhance an existing military capability.
