That's nice; unfortunately the 'Palestinian Authority' has no authority in Gaza, only on the West bank. Their competitors, Hamas, need to cooperate. If free and fair elections were to be held in the West bank, that, too, would fall to Hamas. For better or for worse, Hamas holds power in the strip and Brazil as well as other outside countries wanting to safeguard their citizens will need to deal with them, Israel will surely deal with them in their own way and foreign nationals can easily become 'collateral damage' in the action. I hope the Brazilians and other foreigners do make it into Egypt before the meat grinder catches up to them.

Problem is Fort Hay, Hamas are fanatics and believe in one thing which is the destruction of Israel, i have every sympathy with the Palestinian people. they do not not deserve what is happening to them, Only Iran has any influence with Hamas, only the USA has influence with Israel, Netanyahu policies of taking/stealing large swathes of Palestinian land have been a disaster for Israel and the Palestinians and Hamas have been a disaster for the Palestinians, I doubt peace will ever exist in the middle east but we can live in hope.
