“What links Rishi Sunak, Javier Milei and Donald Trump? The shadowy network behind their policies. George Monbiot

The Atlas Network’s dark-money junktanks are behind neoliberal policies around the world.
A crash programme of massive cuts; demolishing public services; privatising public assets; centralising political power; sacking civil servants; sweeping away constraints on corporations and oligarchs; destroying regulations that protect workers, vulnerable people and the living world; supporting landlords against tenants; criminalising peaceful protest; restricting the right to strike.

...puff of smoke from behind a grassy knoll...

We're also greatly amused with Skippy's comments about the sinister “Atlas Network”...

...I consider both Javier Milei and Donald Trump as savior's of both Argentine and USA recovering their economy's success.

Despite the odds, I fully expect Trump to be the next president, although I think Biden will be forced into accepting another Democrat candidate for the election. (Perhaps the current governor of California...)

Meanwhile, I'm alarmed with the Communist Chinese economy free-fall which will severely affect world trade. Many of my competitive growers are not being successful in the China market, due to a serious economic depression occuring there.

(I've been fortunately focused on the USA and UK markets.)

Obviously, Chilean copper market will be highly affected.

We could face a world-wide economic ression this year!

Meanwhile, I've returned to Viña for a few days to enjoy our family.

I've brought serval boxes of treefruit, including nectarines, plums and apricots feed our gypsy clan. Also freshly harvested lettuce, tomatoes and both white and green asparagus.

The weather here is spectacular, although I prefer the farm overall.

”C.I.A. Is Linked to Strikes In Chile That Beset Allende

WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 —The Central Intelligence Agency secretly financed striking labor unions and trade groups in Chile for more than 18 months before President Salvador Allende Gossens was overthrown, intelligence sources revealed today.

They said that the majority of more than $8‐million authorized for clandestine C.I.A. activities in Chile was used in 1972 and 1973 to provide strike benefits and other means of support for anti‐Allende strikers and workers.

Among those heavily subsidized, the sources said, were the organizers of a nationwide truck strike that lasted 26 days in the fall of 1972, seriously disrupting Chile's economy and provoking the first of a series of labor crises for President Allende.

Direct subsidies, the sources said, also were provided for a strike of middle‐class shopkeepers and a taxi strike among others, that disrupted the capital city of Santiago in the summer of 1973, shortly before Mr. Allende was over thrown by a military coup.

At its peak, the 1973 strikes involved more than 250,000 truck drivers, shopkeepers and professionals who banded to gether in a middle‐class move ment that, many analysts have concluded, made a violent overthrow inevitable.“

For me, the jury is still out on Javier Milei, in time we shall see how effective he is in tackling Argentina’s considerable problems. Frankly he’s a brave man for trying and I wish him well in that endeavour.

At least he seems to have a plan and isn’t just doing more of the same as is the wont of the Peronists, no matter how many time or how badly such policies failed. Einstein defined madness as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

To be honest, Trump worries me, when he found out Sterilizer/Bleach killed covid he thought injecting people with it might be a cure.

It would certainly kill the covid and unfortunately the patient as well.

We have to agree to disagree on that one. Although another Trump/Biden contest would once again be the evil of two lesser. They desperately need a third option, if that’s possible under their system.

As I just explained to Braz on another thread ‘Chinese money for loans, currency swaps and the belt and road initiative, is rapidly drying up as China faces a looming property market crisis, amongst other things.

And all this before the Taiwan election result.

The global south is going to have to get their expensive loans and commodity markets somewhere else for the foreseeable.’

You were wise to focus on western markets, where quality is required and you’re payed in hard currency.

Pleased to hear you and your Clan are still living the dolce vita, buen provecho Compadre. Multilingual or what!

Tonight its Jamaican Oxtail stew with rice and peas (Gungo peas), steamed veg and a fried dumpling, all washed down with Red Strip larger, a feast for me.

“My country was saved from the Communist disaster in 1973 by Pinochet ... The administration expropriated almost all of our farmland”
Fifty percent of children under fifteen in Chile suffered from malnutrition at that time. Seems perfectly reasonable that a government would make policies based on those who could have alleviated this situation yet failed to.
“The economic boom reduced poverty, but the rich got much richer. Thanks to Chile’s free-market economic system – loosely based on the U.S. model but with less regulation – today the wealthiest 10% of Chileans receive nearly 40% of income in the country. Chile is one of the most unequal countries among developed nations, , worse than the United States.
While Chile’s rich and corporations enjoy low taxes, its poor and elderly struggle with nearly no social safety net. While wealthy Chileans visit state-of-the-art private medical clinics staffed with U.S.-trained doctors, the poor rely on public hospitals where they must often buy their own syringes, bandages and drugs.”

Yesterday I really tried to avoid the temptation to expose Skippy's outrageous lies, but I reserve to correct his outright slander against my dear country Chile.

First, his claim of serving as a RAF Airman during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis is an outright lie!

Scot Skippy Jessop has been residing with dear mother in Utah and has never contributed to any military function his miserable existing life.

He certainly is capable of stealing the valior of a deceased RAF Airman however claiming a suspicious photograph.

I take serious disgust with this evil crime.

As to my dear country, Chile is one of the most socially advanced in the Americas.

We defeated the Communists in 1973 and have enjoyed a Democratic government over the past three decades.

I'll not address Skippy's pathetic miserable life anymore.

Well, whatever the arguments over of Chilean history, it is undeniable that today Chile is a socially advanced functioning democracy and has been for the last three decades.

No longer is it a straight choice between communism/Marxism/Peronism and a military dictatorship, that is how far the country has evolved in the present day, which should be applauded.

Military dictatorships seem to have gone out of fashion across S. America, this also is to be applauded.

    stalkers
dangerous – more so than other types as they are more calculated in planning attacks
manipulative – in their minds they are entitled because they are smarter
more likely to have criminal charges brought up against their victim(s)
takes pleasure in humiliating and causing pain
master of all skills – unlike the other types of narcissists, they learn from their efforts. They test a strategy, evaluate its success, and then look for additional ways to serve up endless abuse.”
