Progress of a sort I suppose, he’s probably gone as far as he can down the road of not prioritising the issue, for now.

Let’s face it, it’s going to take at least a generation of not indoctrinating Argys on the issue, to change the public perception.

Not so sure about moving the embassy to west Jerusalem though.

Agreed Pugol-H, i think he knows the reality of the situation, but just tries to keep the fanatics happy. no country should move their embassy to Jerusalem, until their is peace and a political settlement,

I agree with Pugol. It’s going to take at least a couple of generations of Argentines to rethink on the issue, to change their position.

    My neighbors are sadly brainwashed.

Meanwhile, Madame and have just returned from an extraordinary first visit to Australia.

The people we encountered there was absolutely marvelous and certainly the hospitality was incredible.

We enjoyed the superb Quantas non-stop service via the polar route both ways.

Nobody is idoctrinated, the soverany claim is legitim.. they evicted our people.
What we can do is solve the dispute by peaceful means.. going to the icj if the british acept. And that court can determinate where soverany lies

No Argie Cit, your claim is not legitimate, its all been debunked as a lie, in any court you would not have a leg to stand on, no one was evicted, that is a lie, Monkey magic has given you the proof time and time again, you have been indoctrinated as are your children in school every week, they did that in Germany in the 30s and 40s, on top of that self determination over rides everything, deal with it and move on.

What President Milei is saying indirectly, in other words, an insinuation to open the doors to a peaceful solution to the territorial dispute if the United Kingdom accepts it and take the case to international arbitration and that if the ICJ determines that sovereignty It is up to the UK to resolve the 200-year disagreement Of course, I and many compatriots do not agree on any negotiation, and with that position, and it would be something that violates our constitution, since we made it imprescriptible to pass the torch to future generations. . . You will do the same with your descendants and it is respectable.

A-C, Britain does not need to take it to the ICJ, it is Argentina that needs to do this, the matter was settled in 1982 when you stopped talking. the Falklands are here to stay,

Argentina will never take their illegitimate claim to the ICJ. They haven't yet and will never do so because they know they will lose. Let's face it, the claim is false, no “argentine citizen” was ever expelled and there is no evidence to suggest the Falkland Islands ever belonged to Argentina.

The right to self-determination and thereby any sovereignty decision, is enshrined in the UN charter and subsequent UNGA resolutions, the ICJ cannot change that.

Only a UNGA resolution can revoke their right to self-determination.

Argentina contests it on the grounds that it would violate their ‘territorial integrity’, however this is based on a version of history that is not supported by the facts but is contradicted by them, as you have discovered.

However the issue of S. Georgia/S. Sandwich Islands, which have no permanent population and are not listed by the UN for de-colonisation, no ‘special colonial situation’ or issue of self-determination, can go to the ICJ and indeed the UK has twice offered to do that but Argentina refused without explanation.

In fact I cannot find any official/whatever description from Argentina as to what exactly the basis is for Argentina’s claim to those territories.

    Perhaps you know?

    Argentine Zit

I am still trying to understand who was expelled.

According to the logs of the ARA Sarandi, written by its Captain Jose Maria Pinedo he arrived in the Falklands on the 10th October 1832, he departed on patrol around the islands on 21st November 1832, leaving a small garrison under Esteban Mestevier.

When he returned on 30th December, he found the garrison had mutinied, murdered Mestevier and raped his wife. They had contracted a British sealing ship the Rapid to return them to Argentina.

Pinedo agreed to take 20-30 civilians from the islands with him on his return to Argentina, as they wanted to leave the islands as they felt Vernet had lied to them 4 years previous.

Pinedo ordered the militia to stay as per their original orders.

HMS Clio arrived on the 2nd January, and took down the UP flag.

Pinedo left with exactly the same people he agreed to leave with on 30th December, and the militia who wanted to leave were also taken back to Argentina.

    Who was evicted?

Not one person was forced to leave against their will....not one.

Where is the overriding proof that Argentina owns the islands . That is why they will not go to the ICJ. Britain as the owners do not need to go to the ICJ because they are not challenging Argentina .It is Argentina making the claim. The problem is they know they cannot prove their claim. Argentina just as they did to the rest of Argentina took everything by force evicting the indigenous people. That was don lo g after their first attempt to take these islands.
They used the idea Spain owned everything to the south of Uruguay. They did not. Now the invented a myth to justify it.

@@@@ Fitz roy, FF, MonkeyMagic and pughol.

In other words, your country is very sure of the legitimacy of its sovereignty... and in case Argentina could reform its constitution, and make a pleibicite in which its population agrees to go to the ICJ to resolve the dispute... Would you accept that arbitration court and result to close the territorial dispute?

“Would you accept that arbitration court and result to close the territorial dispute”

    All ready asked and answered.

“Although we have no doubt about our sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, South Sandwich or British Antarctic Territory, some of my right hon. and hon. friends have suggested that we refer the matter to the International Court of Justice. Since Argentina does not accept the compulsory jurisdiction of the court, the issue cannot be referred for a binding decision without her agreement. We have never sought a ruling on the Falkland Islands themselves from that court, but we have raised the question of the dependencies on three separate occasions—in 1947, 1949 and 1951. Each time Argentina refused to go to the court. In 1955, the British Government applied unilaterally to the International Court of Justice against encroachments on British sovereignty in the dependencies by Argentina. Again, the court advised that it could not pursue the matter since it could act only if there was agreement between the parties recognising the court's jurisdiction. In 1977, Argentina, having accepted the jurisdiction of an international court of arbitration on the Beagle Channel dispute with Chile, then refused to accept its results. It is difficult to believe in Argentina's good faith with that very recent example in mind. There is no reason, given the history of this question, for Britain, which has sovereignty and is claiming nothing more, to make the first move. It is Argentina that is making a claim. If Argentina wanted to refer it to the International Court, we would consider the possibility very seriously. But in the light of past events it would be hard to have confidence that Argentina would respect a judgement that it did not like.”

“U still didnt answer the question..”

It was answered in April'82 by Thatcher.
Regardless, “With the completion of the Referendum ...the Islands are now ”decolonized”.
“UN Charter; DECLARATION REGARDING NON-SELF-GOVERNING TERRITORIES; Article 73; Members of the United Nations which have or assume responsibilities for ..peoples have not yet attained .. self-government recognize the principle ..b. to develop self-government, ...”

    October 16th,1975
The ICJ presents its advisory opinion on two questions concerning Western Sahara; “The validity of the principle of self-determination, defined as the need to pay regard to the freely expressed will of peoples, ...” The Court also states; “The Charter of the United Nations, in Article 1, paragraph 2, indicates, as one of the purposes of the United Nations: “To develop friendly relations among nations based on ...the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples . .” This purpose is further developed in Articles 55 and 56 of the Charter. ...the subsequent development of international law in regard to non-self-governing territories, as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, made the principle of self-determination applicable to all of them”
Judge Dillard, .. adds; “ .. it is for the people to determine the destiny of the territory and not the territory the destiny of the people.

    Argentine zit

Britain is certain that the |Falkland Islanders have the right to self determination.

Therefore Britain only has sovereignty as long as the islanders wish it.

The real power in determining sovereignty lies with them, not Argentina nor Britain.

I am sorry, but Argentina would really be taking the islanders to the ICJ.

What you cannot prove is that the 24 people who remained on the islands in 1833 preferred to be under Argentine sovereignty or British. The fact that many stayed for a decades under British rule may tell you.

You know as well as we do any arbitration ruling not in Argentina’s favour would be ignored by Argentina, no independent tribunal would rule in favour of Argentina, when the FACTS are presented and Argentina knows this hence will not accept any arbitration.

Also, when has any Argy Gov ever offered to go to the ICJ on this issue, or any form of arbitration?

I don’t recall ever having heard a mention of it by anybody in government.

You’re arguing for something that no Argy Gov has ever suggested, nor would ever accept.

Actually no matter who is considered correct, I need to remind the readership that Skippy is a complete fraud.

He stole the valor of a deceased RAF Airman who served during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

Six years ago Skippy's actual reality:

Skippy is the sock-puppet of Chicureo a lying malignant narcissist fascist. Who has never posted on this site.

Chicureo “Although I've defended Pinochet despite his regrettable actions...I support nationalists that are willing to protect their nation ...Just giving the vote to women has resulted in our current nightmare.“

“I'm still shocked and severely hurt about being accused as a “Malignant Narcissist”..

The link between malignant narcissism, racism and fascism
Narcissism was linked to fascism by the father of bioenergetic therapy, Alexander Lowen, in his outstanding book, ”Narcissism — Denial of the True Self”

    “When the Narcissist Fails

When things begin to sour for the narcissist here is what we can expect: They will try to first misdirect us or claim there is nothing to the allegations or circumstances. If evidence is presented, they will seek to have it invalidated or claim that it is false, but most certainly not true.
Any evidence presented, and those that present it will be attacked vindictively. The better the evidence the more aggressive the attack. Individuals who are doing the right thing unethical behavior, or failings are to be discredited, and bullied. The narcissist will engage enablers to simultaneously attack those who offer proof or evidence, even if it embarrassingly exposes their behavior as that of spineless sycophants.
Expect lies to increase, with evidence to the contrary. Lies are always the number one tool of the MN. The lies must increase to the point of incredulity. The narcissist will expect, the enablers to lie for them.
Some will hound, stalk, those they deem responsible.
That is when we have to worry the most. One of note, was to— to make Germany great again.

Milei knows that the ONLY way for the Falklands to become part of Argentina is for the Falklanders to vote for it. Given that at the last referendum 99.8% voted to remain a British territory (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_Falkland_Islands_sovereignty_referendum ) this is clearly not going to happen any time soon so why bother wasting any effort on it?

Also, if you want to have any effect on reducing that 99.8% it is probably a good idea to get your act together economically and stop being such nuisance with pointless gestures. You never know, give it a few hundred years and you might yet turn the tide but every act of stupidity (the next Peronist government?) will simply set the clock back. Oh well.

Actually Skippy is correct about I've defended Pinochet despite his regrettable actions.

I also hope the USA elect Trump for president in November, as Skippy is a rabid Joe Biden fananaic.
