Argentina needs to solve its exchange rate problem, IMF spokeswoman says

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spokeswoman Julie Kozack said that Argentina needed to lift the exchange rate ceiling if the government were to protect the country's Central Bank reserves. Kozack's remarks during a press conference came a day after Economy Minister Luis Toto Caputo announced that the South American nation was on course to dollarization. Read full article

    Looking at https://tradingeconomics.com/argentina/indicators, this year so far:

    - Stock market up by about 60%
    - Unemployment rate reduces from around 7% to 6%
    - Month-on-month inflation rate reduced from around 20% to 8%
    - Interest rate down from 70 to 40%
    - Balance of trade was negative in 2023 but now about USD2b positive
    So a number of positive indicators. I am no economist but I guess that the exchange rate will follow.
