While the United States still debates whether to implement a voter ID mechanism, Brazilian household pets will soon be eligible for the Animal ID card free of charge as the National Register of Domestic Animals is entering its final testing phase, Agencia Brasil reported this week. Not sure what voter ID has to do with pet ID. Nice that this is advertised free of charge, but one has to wonder why human beings are forced to get ID cards and pay fees. I seriously doubt the municipality where we live will start funding a dog catcher and get after the many stray dogs and feral cats in the village. The problem got so bad during the last few years that roaming packs of starving dogs starting taking down goats and sheep, until the farmers had their ranch hands take matters into their own hands. The money for this program would be better spent on euthanizing these problem animals and avoiding vigilante action. The data security assurance is baseless. Sooner, rather than later, this will be hacked. Furthermore, believe who will that the state will not quickly turn this into a revenue stream. With budget spending out of control, this seems like just another boondoggle.

Just to say that this year (2024) the primary deficit will be 0.25% of GDP. Perhaps the smallest among the ten largest economies in the world. So, there is nothing out of control, unless your vision is based on Faria Lima.

And I think the government should treat Faria Lima as an opposition party. A good way to do this would be to take advantage of the appreciation of the dollar and sell ALL of our reserves in this currency little by little.

Considering the sale price of each dollar at 6.00 reais, the Federal Government could make a cash flow of approximately 3.2 trillion reais which, added to the 1.4 trillion reais that the Brazilian treasury already has available, could easily PAY OFF all of our internal debt. And in this way, leave Faria Lima to its own devices and go back to being what it always was: a Betting House.

The zero fiscal target for 2024 has been widely publicized, with a tolerance of 0.25% either way. All in accordance with the “arcabouço fiscal”.

The positions closed until November show figures that indicate that the target has been met. There is ample reading on the subject in the Brazilian media.
