China Eastern Airlines will launch in December a new air route linking Shanghai and Buenos Aires, with a stopover in Auckland, New Zealand. It will be the first direct route between China and Argentina, operating twice a week with Boeing 777s. Disclaimer & comment rulesInteresting development, but it begs the question why flight connections between China and Argentina are being established, rather than between Brazil and China, where much larger trade volumes exist. In the old days we had direct far eastern service to GRU via LAX with carriers such as VARIG, JAL and Koren Air. The distances and travel times are virtually identical and the JAL and Korean flights had delightful service.
