Bolsonaro spent the night at a Brasilia hospital

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was admitted to a hospital in Brasília after “feeling ill” while under house arrest. One of his sons, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, reported that his father suffered from severe hiccups, vomiting, and low blood pressure.

He “felt ill recently, with severe hiccups, vomiting, and low blood pressure” and went to the hospital in Brasilia because “it was an emergency,” Flávio Bolsonaro said.

Bolsonaro, 70, who was recently sentenced to 27 years in prison for his role in an attempted coup, has been under house arrest since August. His son, who provided details to reporters outside the hospital, said that Bolsonaro's hiccuping fit was so severe that it caused him to stop breathing for nearly 10 seconds.

The retired Army captain has a history of recurring health issues, some of which are related to a stabbing he suffered in 2018. This is the second time he has been taken to the hospital since his house arrest began.

Bolsonaro spent the night at the DF Star hospital under the custody of Federal District Penal Police officers. According to cardiologist Leandro Echenique, who has been treating Bolsonaro since 2018, he is expected to remain hospitalized for the time being.

In recent weeks, Bolsonaro has undergone CT scans, had skin lesions removed, and received intravenous iron treatment. He also suffers from hypertension and gastroesophageal reflux.

Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro reported on social media that her husband underwent tests and is receiving intravenous medication. Councilman Carlos Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) said in a live broadcast that his father was undergoing “cancer screening” and faces a “delicate” health situation, in addition to mentioning a possible hernia.

Back in April, Bolsonaro underwent a long operation to resolve an intestinal obstruction that kept him hospitalized for three weeks.
