Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was admitted on Friday to the intensive care unit of Brasília’s DF Star hospital after being transferred from prison with high fever, low oxygen saturation, sweating and chills. The medical bulletin said tests confirmed bilateral bacterial bronchopneumonia and that the former president is receiving intravenous antibiotics and non-invasive clinical support. Read full article

Trump's envoy did not inform Itamaraty (Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs) of his diplomatic agenda; according to news reports, he was also scheduled to participate in a meeting on rare earth elements in São Paulo on March 18th.

Brazil has already stated that it does not want the United States to participate in the exploration of our rare earth elements, as Brazil wishes to process these minerals on its own territory and use them strategically for the benefit of the Brazilian people, not the United States.

The only country that accepted Brazil's conditions for mining was China.

The United States wants to do with our rare earth elements what they did in the Persian Gulf countries: to privilege and enrich a small, billionaire bourgeois class and enslave the rest of the population so they can steal at will what belongs to the Brazilian people. We will not allow it.

The United States also demanded that Brazil receive the immigrants arrested by ICE. Here in Brazil, we have a saying: “Whoever gave birth to Matthew should rock the cradle.”

Finally, a foreign authority visiting a former president who is imprisoned during an election year is a dangerous interference in the affairs of our democracy.
