The Falklands sovereignty dispute returned to the centre of the diplomatic agenda this week with two developments of immediate impact: comments by Argentine Vice President Victoria Villarruel demanding that islanders “go back to England” if they “feel English” — despite the fact that in the 2013 referendum islanders voted by a 99.8% majority to remain British — and a disclosure published by The Telegraph that the United States had pressured the British government to tolerate the delivery to Argentina of F-16 fighter jets sourced from allied territory. The remarks fit within a long-standing Argentine diplomatic doctrine that views the current population as a transplanted community installed after 1833 and therefore not a legitimate third party in the dispute...

Is the Falklands population an implanted/transplanted population ? And does it really matter?

Talking of world-wide commemorations, then are there any ideas forming in the minds of the inhabitants, for the 200th commemoration of the settling of the Falkland Islands by the British?

I hope to be still be around, to come, join in and see what great strides the islanders are making. I will no doubt meet with some Islanders at the Royal Welsh Show, and please come along to the International Pavilion for a coffee and a chat.

Argentina's vice president, the idiot extraordinaire, Victoria Villarruel, has disgraced herself grotesquely by demanding that the Falklander population of the British Falkland Islands “go back to England”, without understanding that almost every single Argentine is descended from Europeans who arrived long after the Falkland Islanders' great-great-grandparents.
She deserves the Nobel Prize for Ignorance.

‘thousands of kilometres’, oh, like the distance from Argentina to Spain or Italy?

The British have at least as much right to be in the S. Atlantic, as she has to be in Argentina.

The fact that they broke away from their colonial power simply means they changed their flag and anthem.

It did not give them any inherent rights over adjacent regions.

‘discuss bilaterally’, nah, it’s really not worth talking about, never mind to, this woman.

Freddie, have you flown into Luton lately, or perhaps strolled through High Wycombe or Reading? I hope you’re right, but in any case, Brits have to make sure that the nine million descendants of today’s 3.5 million Muslims don’t end up calling the shots in the civil service.

i live in a town population well over 100.000 and its 97% white the next town is 95% white, the town the other side is i 94% white, look at the facts not the scare stories. what makes me laugh is the so called patriotic Brits who move to the middle east. 300,000 of them who say the UK is over run,
