The average wool export price in the July 25/May26 period, jumped 29.3% Uruguay sheep produce exports grew 28% between July 2025 and May 2026, totaling US$ 281 million, boosted by wool, 72% of income while lamb and mutton the remaining 27%.
Checking numbers closely wool and sub-produce exports represented 91%, generating US$ 184 million, which represents a 29.3% increase compared to the same period a year ago, --with the volume was 4.1% less--, totaling 41.9 million kilos.
During that period the volume of scoured wool and tops exports increased, while greasy wool sales dropped. Nevertheless the three categories increased revenue given the higher price for the three categories since October last year.
Greasy wool exports totaled US$ 76 million, 27% higher than a year ago despite a lower volume, 15% to 17.4 million kilos. Scoured wool was the category with the largest growth generating US$ 36.5 million , a 53% increase in dollars together with a 12.5% expansion in exported volume, reaching 11 million kilos.
Wool tops exports on the other hand reached US$ 72 million, with a 27.5% increase in value, while the total volume traded was 13.7 million kilos, just 0.9% compared to the previous period.
