The Falkland Islands Government has confirmed the timetable for the forthcoming public consultation on salmon-farming. A two-week program of public engagement events will begin on 27 July 2026, including public meetings in Stanley and Goose Green, alongside a series of drop-in sessions held throughout the period.

The public meetings will feature presentations from Hatch and MEP, the authors of the socio-economic, environmental and legislative reports. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

The drop-in sessions will provide a more informal setting, with representatives from Hatch and MEP available to respond to queries.

Salmon Free Falklands and Unity Marine have also been invited to participate and share information during these sessions.

Further details, including event timings and locations, will be communicated in due course. Ahead of the engagement program, consultation documents will be published on Monday 29 June.

An online survey will then open on 6 August, inviting public feedback. The survey will remain open for a 12-week period, closing on 30 October 2026. Paper copies will also be available, on request.

Following the consultation period, responses will be analyzed and presented to Members of the Legislative Assembly to inform a decision on salmon-farming in the Islands.
