  Authorities from Brazil and China signed this week an agreement to start the studies for the construction of a railway connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, which would bring South America's largest country closer to the Asian giant trade-wise.

  Brazil eyes railroad to Chancay to facilitate trade with China

  

  Brazilian and Chinese authorities are evaluating the construction of a railroad to the Chancay mega-port in Peru through Acre, near Bolivia, to Bahia on the Atlantic coast, which would reduce the maritime trade distance to Asia by approximately 10,000 kilometers while easing reliance on the congested port of Santos, Planning Minister Simone Tebet explained.

  China confirms its interest in Brazil with credit and infrastructure projects

  

  China expanded its trade partnership with Brazil with 7.5 billion dollars in financing for Brazilian miner Vale, the purchase of 60 passenger jets from plane-maker Embraer and renewed commitment to invest in infrastructure.
