In a blow to Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido, Argentina's government said on Tuesday it did not recognize him as his nation's interim president and had revoked the credentials of his representative in Buenos Aires.

Elisa Trotta is the new Venezuelan ambassador in Argentina, following the acceptance of her Credentials by Argentine foreign minister Jorge Faurie. According to an Argentine foreign ministry release, Ms Trotta will make her official presentation to president Mauricio Macri sometime this week.

Argentina reiterated its support for Venezuela’s opposition leader Friday by issuing diplomatic credentials to a new delegate and officially announcing its withdrawal from the regional UNASUR bloc, which has been criticized over its lack of action on Venezuela.
