This week the Falkland Islands Executive Council (ExCo) approved the extension of the Travel Credits Scheme to include domestic tourism accommodation.
Following the success of the Tourism Recovery Incentive Program – or TRIP scheme – which ran from October 2020 until May 2021, the Falkland Islands Government will be running a survey to understand what aspects of the scheme went well and where improvements can be made.
On Wednesday, ExCo agreed a further set of economic support measures for the community and local businesses, in light of the ongoing pandemic.
There are just two months remaining before both the Falkland Islands TRIP and BFSAI TRIP schemes end on 31 May 2021. Both Tourism Recovery Incentive Programmes – known locally as ‘TRIP’ schemes – have proved very popular since launching, providing participants with vouchers to spend on local tourism activities while commercial airlinks remain suspended due to the pandemic.
