  Falklands holding a national census on Sunday; population in 2012 was 2.840

  

  The Falkland Islands will be holding its national census on Sunday. The previous census in 2012, revealed that the Falklands population was 2.840, of which 75% lived in Stanley and 57% identified themselves as Falkland Islanders. Censuses happen every 5 years and participation in the Census is required by law.

  Falkland Islands’ census shows there are more new homes than new people

  

  The release of further data from the 2012 Census shows that the Falkland Islands continues to work its magic on immigrants who may have arrived with short term plans but have settled for ten or more years and that the ratio of women to men in the Islands has increased considerably over the last four decades.
