  UK rejects Spain proposal for one-on-one talks on Gibraltar sovereignty

  

  Britain rejected a Spanish proposal to hold one-on-one talks over the sovereignty of the contested British overseas territory (BOT) of Gibraltar after Spain issued an appeal for such negotiations to be held “as soon as possible”.

  Spain warns Hague that it will continue to enforce strict Gibraltar border checks

  

  Foreign Affairs minister José Manuel García-Margallo has told his UK counterpart, William Hague that Spain will continue to enforce strict Gibraltar border checks “whenever necessary” because this was in line with Madrid’s EU obligations and that Guardia Civil officers were searching for contraband.
