    Delcy Rodríguez removes Vladimir Padrino as Venezuela’s defense minister

    Padrino’s departure closes a chapter of more than a decade at the helm of the defense ministry

    Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez on Wednesday removed Vladimir Padrino López as defense minister and appointed General Gustavo González López in his place, ending one of the longest and most politically sensitive tenures within the country’s ruling military hierarchy. Venezuelan media reported the move citing Rodríguez’s official message on X, in which she thanked Padrino for his “loyalty to the homeland” and said he would take on “new responsibilities.”

    Venezuelan government targets opposition leader Capriles for making “false allegations”

    Interior Minister Gonzalez Lopez Twitted that Capriles, will have to explain to court why he described government officials, as “nepotistic and corrupt.”

    Barely one week after Venezuela’s President of the National Assembly of Venezuela Diosdado Cabello filed a defamation suit against 22 media executives and editors for publishing reports linking him to an international drug-trafficking, another high-level minister announced they would be filing suit against opposition leader Henrique Capriles for making “false allegations.”

    New York Times warns Obama's strategy towards Venezuela could be failing

    The step could end up backfiring if President Maduro is able to use it to bolster his bogus contention that the United States is trying oust him through a coup.

    In an editorial piece, “A failing relationship with Venezuela”, The New York Times expressed doubts about the latest measures imposed by the Obama administration on seven top officials from the Venezuelan government and goes even further questioning whether they will not end actually reinforcing President Nicolas Maduro position.
