  Iconic war Aircraft to be exhibited at the Falkland Islands Museum & National Trust

  

  The Falkland Islands Museum & National Trust is delighted to announce the impending arrival of two additional aircraft for exhibition. Currently located at Marchwood, these aircraft are scheduled to arrive in the Falklands in early June 2024, with plans for their transportation to Stanley on or around June 14th, Liberation Day, weather permitting.

  HMS Hermes refuses to be scrapped; company wants to turn the former Indian Navy flagship in a museum

  

  The dismantling of the Indian Navy's former flagship, Viraat, (ex HMS Hermes) has been kept on hold by the country's Supreme Court, which also issued notice to the company that bought the ship from the government to be made into scrap. The Supreme Court's order comes on a petition by a group that offered to buy the decommissioned carrier and convert it into a museum.

  Falklands' veteran ex HMS Hermes to decommissioned by Indian Navy

  

  Aircraft carrier from Portsmouth that fought in the Falklands War is making her final journey before being decommissioned after almost 60 years of active service. HMS Hermes served with distinction in the conflict against Argentina in 1982 before being sold to the Indian Navy and renamed INS Viraat.

  Falklands send condolences to family and friends of Admiral Sir Sandy Woodward

  

  In a brief message Gilbert House, seat of the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly made public its condolences to the family and friends of Admiral Sir Sandy Woodward who was commander of the carrier force sent to recover the Falklands invaded and occupied by Argentine forces.
