Venezuela's economic authorities have reported one-digit monthly inflation once again for a country that had grown accustomed to astronomic figures. However, independent observers consider this data to be absurd.
The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) condemned on Wednesday ”the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of deputies José Guerra, Tomás Guanipa, Juan Pablo García and Rafael Guzmán, ordered on August 12, 2019, which constitutes a clear attack on the only legitimate and democratically elected body in Venezuela and another challenge to the rule of law.”
While for the Venezuelan government Mercosur has become the main priority following its recent exit from the Community of Andean Nations, CAN, the country’s private sector claims it is the worst moment possible for such a move.
