  Chile's Constitutional Council instated

  

  Chile's Constitutional Council, a body of 50 people that will pen a new Constitution, was instated Wednesday in Santiago in a new attempt to change the 1980 Magna Carta inherited from Augusto Pinochet's military regime. The first try succumbed in a plebiscite in September of 2022.

  Boric banned from reelection even if new Chilean Constitution is approved

  

  Chile's Constituent Assembly Thursday overwhelmingly approved a provision to ban incumbent President Gabriel Boric Font from running for reelection in 2026 should the new Fundamental Law be approved in September's referendum.

  UK embassy in Chile launches month of activities to commemorate Magna Carta 800th anniversary

  

  The British embassy in Santiago participated in Chile's annual National Heritage Day, enabling hundreds to visit the official Residence and at the same time launched a month of activities to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta on 15 June 1215.
