    Dilma offered new term as BRICS bank head

    Rousseff and Putin met earlier this week but it remains to be seen whether she is interested in the new job offer

    Former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff was offered the chance to stay for another five years as head of the New Development Bank (NDB, also known as the BRICS Bank) by Russian President Vladimir Putin during the bloc's Summit in Kazan, Agencia Brasil reported Thursday. Rousseff's term ends in July 2025.

    BRICS Bank comes to Rio Grande do Sul's rescue

    Former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff will chair the NDB until July 2025

    The Shanghai-based New Development Bank (NDB) will grant funding worth R$ 5.7 billion (US$ 1.1 billion) to rebuild the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul still grappling to recover from the unprecedented storms since April 29, Agencia Brasil reported Tuesday. The NDB, also known as the BRICS Bank, will release the money through a partnership with the Banco do Brasil (BB), the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social - BNDES), and the Regional Development Bank of the Far South (Banco Regional de Desenvolvimento do Extremo Sul - BRDE).

    Argentina closer to becoming a member of BRICS and their Development Bank

    According to the Argentine delegation sources, Rousseff gave Massa the news at the meeting they held at NDB headquarters in Shanghai .

    BRICS bank (New Development Bank), takes off in low-key Shanghai ceremony

    Officials from the world's largest emerging nations launched on Tuesday the New Development Bank (NDB), the second of two new policy banks heavily backed by Beijing that are being pitched as alternatives to existing institutions such as the World Bank. Also known as the BRICS bank, it follows soon after the establishment of the China-led Asian Investment Infrastructure Bank (AIIB).
