  Falklands: dead Gentoo penguins with bird flu at Pebble island

  

  On Thursday 29th January 2026, swabs that were taken from dead Gentoo penguins at Pebble Island tested positive for highly pathogenic avian influenza. Several hundred penguins are affected.
