    Falklands new Historic Dockyard Museum opens to the public on Friday

    Guest of honour, Sir Neil Cossons OBE, (*) declared the Historic Dockyard Museum officially open with a ringing of the Dockyard bell

    After decades of planning, and a huge amount of dedication from the Falkland Islands Museum and National Trust (FIMNT) and supporters, the Falkland Islands’ new Historic Dockyard Museum is nearing completion. Approximately 100 invited guests attended the launch event on Saturday 6th September, and the building will be open to the public on Friday 12th September.

    Falklands’ ex-governor Lamont chairman of the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust

    New UKAHT Chairman Donald Lamont

    Donald Lamont, a former British ambassador and former governor of the Falkland Islands took over as chairman of the United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust. He replaces Philippa Foster Back, who retires from the position having served as trustee since 2000 and chair for the past seven years.
