Brazil's rice exports are expected to reach 1.2 million tons this year according to estimates from ABIARROZ (the Brazilian rice industry association), based on overseas sales between January and October which totalled 958,000 tons.
Data from SECEX (foreign trade secretariat) compiled by ABIARROZ (Brazilian rice industry association) shows that Brazilian rice exports (husk base) totalled 153,500 tons in October, a volume 84% higher than in the same month of 2019 (83,570 tons).
A delegation of Brazilian rice producers is on a mission to Mexico this week to lobby for a cut in the 20% tariff their exports face in the lucrative Mexican market, a reduction they say could enable them to compete with U.S. rivals.
