Argentine president Alberto Fernandez is planning to succeed his Mexican peer next 17 September as chair of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean Estates, CELAC, one of several regional organizations in the continent, but his luck seems to be in the will of a gnome dictator in one of the Caribbean Commonwealth islands, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Falkland Islands said that the reason why some Non Self Governing Territories were unresponsive to the Special Committee on Decolonization, or C24, was that the issues proposed were not attractive, and to be effective it must engage with these territories in a more effective manner, and with a much less colonialist attitude.
Britain is providing assistance to five Eastern Caribbean countries “to help them return to economic growth while managing the risks from external shocks”. The Department for International Development (DFID) Caribbean says it will work closely with Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Dominica under the new program that runs until 2020.
Argentine Vice-president and acting President Amado Boudou, Foreign Minister Hector Timerman, other cabinet ministers and lawmakers met this week with Saint Vincent and Grenadines Prime Minister Ralph Everard Gonsalves, on an official invitation to visit the country to thank the Caribbean leader for his support in the Malvinas cause.
