  Argentine president again calls on the UN for Falklands' sovereignty negotiations

  

  On Tuesday, Argentine president Alberto Fernandez addressed the United Nations General Assembly and in his long speech as usual there was a special demand for Argentina's legitimate sovereignty rights over the Falklands and other South Atlantic Islands.

  Macri's government renews Falklands' sovereignty claim and calls on UK for dialogue

  

  President Mauricio Macri's government reaffirmed on Sunday, 3 January, Argentina's sovereignty rights over the Falklands/Malvinas Islands on the 183 anniversary of the 'British occupation of the archipelago' in the South Atlantic, and called for dialogue with the United Kingdom. In a statement published in the Foreign Ministry site it said that “Argentina renews its commitment to the peaceful solution of controversies, to international law to and multilateralism”.

  A “psychological war” to persuade UK to negotiate Falklands’ sovereignty

  

  So far it’s a psychological war to try and persuade the British to begin Falkland Islands a sovereignty discussion with Argentina but there is nothing to discuss about since the Islanders don’t want to belong to Argentina and that’s it, said UK retired Major General Julian Thompson.
