  ICJ issues ruling acceptable to both Ecuador and Mexico

  

  The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, The Netherlands, produced a ruling Thursday that was equally welcomed by both parties in the dispute between Ecuador and Mexico over the police raid at the Embassy in Quito to arrest former Vice President Jorge Glas, who had sought asylum to avoid incarceration after being convicted of corruption.

  ICJ ruling on Gaza prompts mixed reactions

  

  The International Court of Justice (ICJ) Friday ordered Israel by 15 votes to 2 to take all necessary measures to avoid genocide in Gaza. But, while failing to declare that such a calamity already existed in the war-torn Middle East region as those filing the case earlier this month presumably expected, it also stopped short of mandating a ceasefire.

  Guyana Venezuela territorial dispute at the Court of Justice, but Caracas denies The Hague jurisdiction to rule

  

  The United Nations’ top court held its first virtual hearing on Tuesday, taking up a 120-year-old territorial dispute between Guyana and Venezuela. Guyana made its arguments as to why the International Court of Justice has jurisdiction in the border dispute, which calls into question the ownership of more than half of the ex British colony.

  ICJ to hold public hearings on Venezuela/Guyana territorial dispute in March

  

  The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will begin holding public hearings, next month, on Venezuela’s claim for more than half of Guyana’s territory. The first round of oral arguments starts on March 23 when Guyana will present its case from 10 am to 1 pm at the Peace Palace in The Hague.
