  Royal Navy Type 31 frigates landmark, HMS Active rolls out and steel cut for HMS Bulldog

  

  A major landmark has been reached in the construction of two of the Royal Navy’s new Type 31 frigates as one was rolled out of the build hall while the first steel was cut the other. Forces.net is reporting that HMS Active, the second vessel in the Inspiration-class, came out of her build hall at Rosyth Dockyard in Fife.

  First steel cut for Royal Navy Type 31 frigates program

  

  The Royal Navy on Thursday entered the age of the Type 31 as work began on HMS Venturer, the first of five ships ‘at the fulcrum of the future fleet’. Defense Secretary Ben Wallace set the cutters at work on steel for the lead ship in the Inspiration class in a brand-new assembly hall in Rosyth.

  Clyde shipbuilding unions furious with MoD over building of new frigates

  

  Shipbuilding unions have accused the UK Minister of Defense of reneging on a promise to build five new navy frigates on the Clyde. It came as Defense Secretary Sir Michael Fallon announced that five Type 31e frigates could be built and assembled across several UK shipyards.
