    Relief operation of DRC Uruguayan blue helmets underway

    Uruguay is carrying out on Friday a troop relief operation for its United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Approximately 200 Uruguayan soldiers from the Uruguay IV Battalion are arriving at Carrasco International Airport at 6.35 am on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Rwanda. President Yamandú Orsi and Defense Minister Sandra Lazo will welcome them.

    A Uruguayan Air Force (FAU) Hercules C-130 transport aircraft departed Wednesday carrying some 200 troops to be deployed in the Golan Heights, on the border between Israel and Syria, for a United Nations peacekeeping mission, it was reported in Montevideo.

    Brazil's Lower House passes bill to donate arms to Uruguay's Army

    In 2019 a delegation of the Uruguayan Army visited the 22nd Self-Propelled Field Artillery Group of the Brazilian Army in Uruguaiana to see the equipment

    Brazilian defense authorities are moving ahead with their plans to donate military equipment to Uruguay consisting of M108 howitzers and Urutu vehicles after the Lower House passed a bill in that regard which has now been sent over to the Senate.
