Two veterans of Falkland War decided to hand their medals back in protest against what they claimed was a lack of support for troops emotionally wounded by battle.
Tony McNally and Edward Denmark said that their lives have been ruined because of emotional trauma after witnessing the war, but claim MOD has nothing to help them.
They have accused the government of turning its back on those who laid their lives on the line.
Ex-gunner Mr. McNally, from Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria, said "I cherish those medals but they only serve to remind me of the horror of it all. I am now unemployed and believe that this and previous governments have done nothing to help me and my comrades."
A MOD spokesman said: "The MOD believes that we behaved in line with contemporary best practice in our treatment of service personnel with suspected post traumatic stress disorder"
