Uruguay praised President Bush's prudence and consultation process before ordering the attacks on military targets in Afghanistan. Uruguayan president Jorge Batlle also announced that Mercosur presidents will be present next November 8th. in the United Nations General Assembly to ratify their full support to the United States government in the war on terrorism.

"United States handled things completely different from what could be expected, and before attacking showed evidence to all world governments of links between the tragic events of September 11th. and Osama Bin Laden", said Mr. Batlle.

The Uruguayan president revealed that during the weekend it was agreed with Argentine president De la Rúa and Brazilian president Fernando Cardoso that next November 8th., Mercosur will express its political position regarding "events that have been evolving since September 11th." "We're going to ratify our position, which was voted by everybody in the Security Council".
