Falkland Islands Government Office in London reveals plans for a photographic exhibition entitled ?Falkland Islands Today' that will show in at least four locations across the UK next year and invites people in the Islands to contribute.

At each location, there will be a programme of support activity to create maximum exposure and interest, such as school talks, competitions and a private opening reception for local dignitaries, media and ?Falkland friends'. Sponsorship is being sought.

The first exhibition is scheduled to take place at the John Innes Centre in Norwich from 1st to 31st March. Other locations to be confirmed are Oxford Town Hall in Oxford; The Commonwealth Institute in London and Manchester Central Library in Manchester.

Venues have been chosen for their strong flow of visitors, in areas where the Falklands may not necessarily be well known, but where they may be relevance.

Comments Sukey Cameron, Representative: "Through the 20th anniversary reflections that are planned in the UK, we aim to raise awareness of the Falkland Islands as they are today ? modern and dynamic, with their own character and beauty. We live in an increasingly visual age and so, what better way to illustrate our words than images taken through the lens of Islanders and visitors."

FIGO is keen to receive either prints, negatives or transparencies to include in the exhibition. Ideally any prints will be flush mounted, no smaller than 12 x 9 inches and no larger than 20 x 16 inches.

Submissions should include the photographers name and contact details (age optional) together with a short sentence in less than 20 words ? "I chose this picture because ?."

Anyone keen to participate can hand material to Deborah Ford, who is in Stanley until 4th December ? or alternatively, send it to Falkland House before the closing date, 15th January 2002.
