Chilean president Raúl Lagos named this Monday General Osvaldo Sarabia Vilches as the new Commander of the Air Force, replacing General Patricio Ríos who finally resigned last October 13th after a serious confrontation with civilian authorities.

An Argentine Army officer, First Lieutenant Caesar Fragni, has been awarded his wings by the British Parachute Regiment, one of the elite British units which defeated the Argentine forces in the Falkland Islands in 1982. He is believed to be the first Argentine to earn British parachute wings.
