    Third Falklands Shooting record for G. Goodwin

    A final score of 390 in the Open Full Bore Rifle Individual event, saw 22 year old Falklands shooter Gareth Goodwin finish in 24th position, 14 points behind the gold medallist, David Calvert of N. Ireland. Gareth's score broke the previous Falklands record, set by Ken Aldridge in Victoria 8 years ago, by a massive 16 points. His 24th position placing was also the highest ever for a Falklands competitor in this competition.

    US Treasury bails out Uruguay

    Strong financial support for the beleaguered Uruguayan banking system was announced Wednesday morning by the Uruguayan Economy Minister Alejandro Atchugarry following successful talks in Washington with the International Monetary Fund and the US Treasury that committed 1,5 billion US dollars in immediate assistance. The 1,5 billion US dollars check includes a 700 million US dollars advance from an IMF rescue package already agreed, and another 800 million US dollars from the United States Treasury

    Gareth Goodwin heading for record score

    22 year old Gareth Godwin, continued his impressive form at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. In the 2nd stage of the Individual Full-Bore rifle event, he scored an excellent 148 from a possible of 150, to leave himself in 21st position, and 4 points behind the leaders. There are 44 competitors in the event.
