The Falkland Islands Illex fishery will close two months early on 14 April 2004, the Falklands Fisheries Department announced this Friday in Stanley.

Malvinas will be recovered with “dialogue and peace”
“Malvinas will be Argentine through dialogue and peace”, said Argentine president Nestor Kirchner during the main commemoration of the 22nd anniversary of the Falkland Islands war that took place in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego.

Argentine war dead receive long standing Memorial.
Twenty two years ago, on 2 April 1982, during a Military assignment code-named 'Operacion Azul' (Operation Blue) special Argentine Forces captured the Falkland Islands. Ten weeks later more than 700 Argentine servicemen were dead as Britain recovered the Islands, losing 255 men in the process.

“The storm is gone, recession is gone”, but the situation can't go further than a “cautious optimism”, warned Enrique Iglesias, president of the Interamerican Development Bank, IDB, during the closing ceremony of the bank's 45th annual assembly that was held this week in Lima, Peru.

Convicted “Maya V” crew leave Australia.
Nearly all of the crew members arrested aboard the Uruguayan flagged longliner “Maya V” will leave Australia within 72 hours, a court was told today (April 1, 2002) in Perth, Western Australia.

Falkland Islands elected Councillors are very satisfied with the Foreign Office's “robust line” towards Argentina regarding the recent incident of the naval icebreaker “Almirante Irizar” sailing through Falklands' waters and challenging other vessels to identify themselves.
