The United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association is an important forum in which issues of interest and concern to the United Kingdom Overseas Territories can be discussed, says Foreign Office Minister Bill Rammell MP, who today will launch the inaugural United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association (UKOTA) newsletter, at the CPA Room in Westminster Hall.
Chairman of the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association, Albert Poggio, says it is the first time that all of the UK's populated territories have presented their stories in a unified format.
"The newsletter is packed full of interesting facts and information about each of the ten populated United Kingdom territories that will appeal to a wide range of readers. Our aim is to introduce and generate positive perceptions about the lives and culture of the people of the Territories. This newsletter is the first of many that will go a long way to achieving this goal," said Mr Poggio.
He added that it is timely that the newsletter is issued today because UKOTA's membership has grown recently and it is the 10th anniversary of the foundation of the Association. New policies have been adopted to accommodate these changes including the introduction of a new constitution and a Political Council comprising the Chief Ministers of the member territories.
UKOTA members are the representatives of the UK Overseas Territories that are based in the United Kingdom as well as members in Bermuda and Pitcairn.
The newsletter will be published biannually.
