    EU-Mercosur clear the way to advance negotiations.

    Mercosur and the European Union agreed last Sunday in Brasilia to unblock current trade negotiations and announced that next September 20 they will be exchanging further proposals with the purpose of keeping to the original deadline of October 31.

    IMF considers Argentine payment deferment.

    The International Monetary Fund will consider this Friday Argentina's request to defer until December a billion US dollars in payments which become due next Monday. This Wednesday Argentine Finance Minister Roberto Lavagna will be presenting Congress the 2005 budget, an element described as “crucial” for the IMF decision making process.
