The Falkland Islands Government has been quick to react positively to the news that the heir to the British throne is to marry.

On Thursday, Miss Sukey Cameron, Falkland Islands Government Representative in London, sent the following message to Sir Michael Peat, Private Secretary to the Prince of Wales.

"I would be most grateful if you could convey this message to His Royal Highness on behalf of the Falkland Islands.

I have been asked by the Elected Members of the Legislative Council in the Falkland Islands, to pass on their warmest congratulations and good wishes to His Royal Highness and Mrs. Parker Bowles, on the announcement of their forthcoming marriage.

All those in the Islands have fond memories of the visit His Royal Highness made to the Islands in 1999 and are most grateful to him for his continued interest. I am sure that everyone there would wish to be associated with this message."
