Buenos Aires City Councillors have under consideration a project creating a special commission to honour the hundreds of Argentines who sacrificed their lives in the Malvinas war.
According to the Buenos Aires press the main objective of the commission is travelling next November to the Falkland Islands to "institutionally" honour the Argentine buried in the Islands with a plaque to be unveiled in the Darwin Memorial.
The idea is that the commission be integrated by an elected representative from each political group in the Argentine capital legislature.
"For different circumstances we haven't been able to honour those who gallantly died in battle, therefore the creation of the multi party commission to honour the hundreds of Argentines who did the maximum sacrifice fighting for the ideals and interests of all Argentines, which does not mean the acceptance of British sovereignty over the Islands", said Jorge Mercado, sponsor of the initiative.
Mr. Mercado added that he will request fellow Councillors the bill be approved as an only "package" therefore avoiding its consideration by at least two standing commissions, as indicated by normal procedure.
"We'd live a quick vote because the bill merits it and time is pressing", underlined Councillor Mercado.
