Former Chilean air force commander-in-chief Fernando Matthei has been reported to an Argentine court on charges of homicide.
Matthei, who headed the air force under the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, recently admitted having collaborated with Britain against Argentina during the 1982 Falkland / Malvinas War.
The lawsuit was presented by Juan de Dios Romero, an official of the Argentine Communications Secretariat. Romero said Matthei "gave essential information (to the British) for the destruction of material resources and the lives of soldiers of a country" that was not at war with Chile.
Matthei's statements were made last week to a Chilean television programme. Matthei said Pinochet was only vaguely aware of the collaboration with Britain. (Bs. Aires Herald)
