The New Zealand yacht “Evohoe” left this weekend Punta Arenas and will be calling in the Falkland Islands before sailing for Antarctica, reports the local press.

The two masts, steel hull yacht is under the command of Stephen Kafka master mariner and professional photographer who is famous for having sailed the Evohoe through Artic ice from Alaska to Greenland in 2000.

From Antarctica they will be calling in Ushuaia, sail along the Chilean fiords and the north Pacific to the Galapagos Islands, before returning to Dunedin, NZ.

The "Evohoe" was built in 1979 designed to operate in extreme conditions and is equipped with satellite communication and radar.

She can accommodate twelve people and has a duplicate of all main systems including a second engine, abundant fuel tanks and a mini drinking water processing plant.
