Newspapers are considered far more trustworthy than websites and blogs, according to new research.
Blogs are the least trusted source of information about current affairs and events.
National TV is the most trusted, closely followed by national and regional newspapers.
Information from newspapers and TV news programmes is believed to be as accurate and independent as information from family and friends, the study showed.
The survey of 1,000 people appears to disprove the idea that traditional media is being usurped by the web.
Asked which sources are accurate, true and unbiased, 66% named national TV.
National newspapers were chosen by 63%. The same percentage rated regional and local newspapers.
Radio was believed to be less accurate, chosen by just 55% of those surveyed.
Only 36% of respondents rated websites and just 24% rated blogs.
The research was carried out by internet marketing firm Telecom Express.
