The Falkland Islands, considered as part of the South American continent, have the highest percentage of population internet connection, 69%, followed by Chile, 42%, Argentina 34% and Uruguay 33.6% according to the latest release from Internet World Stats.
June estimates indicate that in Latinamerica out of a population of 370 million, 77.9 million or 21% are connected to internet. In the Falklands with 2.736 inhabitants, 1.900 is connected to internet making it the highest percentage, 69%, of the region. Brazil is the country with the highest number of internet connections, 39 million, but the population (186 million) penetration percentage is one of the lowest, 21%. Leaving aside the Falklands, Chile has the highest internet connectivity percentage 42% (6.7 million) followed by Argentina 34% (13 million) and Uruguay 33.6% (1.1 million). Countries with the lowest population internet penetration percentage are Paraguay 3.5% (only 200.000 of its 5.7 million) and Bolivia, 5.7% (out of 9 million, only 480.000 are connected). In the United States with 43 million Spanish speaking population 14 million are connected to internet. According to June World Internet Stats, 1.173 million people in the world are connected to internet and 20 countries, with United States at the top, represent 78% of global users, which is 915 million. As to most common languages, English comes first with 31% of total users (356 million) followed by mandarin with 184 million, 15.7% and then Spanish, 8.7% equivalent to 101 million internet users.
