Brazil is the only country in the running to host the 2014 World Football Cup competition, which is set to be staged in South America due to Fifa's rotation system. Inspectors have sent a report to the Fifa executive committee indicating their approval, and a decision will be announced next Tuesday.
The inspection team visited Brazil for ten days this summer and were satisfied that the country's government and public was committed to hosting the event, and would be able to provide excellent stadiums and training facilities. Brazil, who hosted the World Cup in 1950 have named 18 venues for the tournament but 14 of those are to be renovated and four still have to be built. The report noted security concerns in some areas, but added that Brazil has enough resources to improve the situation before 2014. "Brazil is an appropriate choice to host the 2014 Fifa World Cup," the Inspection Report for the tournament said. "Brazil has shown the potential and demonstrated itself to be more than capable of hosting an exceptional Fifa World Cup. "It is evident that Brazil has the richest tradition of footballing excellence in the world." "Our visit left us no doubt as to Brazil's commitment to fulfil the guarantees made in the bid book." After the 2014 World Cup Fifa is set to abandon its policy of rotating the tournament around the continents.
