Civilians traveling on the Brize Norton-Falkland Islands RAF airbridge will have access to premium economy seats for the price of 3.091 pound sterling return.
An FIG spokesperson said on Monday that the UK Ministry of Defence has agreed that up to 10 of these seats can be available for civilian bookings on every flight. The seats, at the front of the new DC-10, have more space around them and recline back for sleeping. Passengers receive enhanced catering and wine with meals. The 'PE' seats for £3091 return and can be booked through FIC and FIGO. They are counted as part of the Falkland Islands seat allocation, so are only available where there is space within the overall allocation, on a first come first served basis. Passengers will not be upgraded by FIG free of charge. This arrangement will continue for the next few months, until agreement is reached with MOD on the wider negotiations about the airbridge. In the meantime, the spokesperson said that there will be an improved arrangement for all airbridge bookings between FIC and FIGO in London, which should mean that, provided civilian seat allocation has not been used up, seats can be confirmed within working hours as soon as they are booked, rather than waiting for MOD confirmation.(FIRS)
