The Falkland Islands will hold on Saturday evening 10 November 2007 a special remembrance service at the Liberation Monument in Stanley, in honour of the Liberation of the Islands 25 years ago, while reflecting on the struggle and sacrifice that made the achievement of those remarkable combined services possible.

The Service will include the Dedication of the South Atlantic Medal Association (SAMA) Standard and will be witnessed by visiting South Atlantic veterans. At 18:50 hrs the Veterans will move into position in 6 ranks facing the Liberation Monument to await the arrival of HE the Governor Alan Huckle, the Minister for Veterans MP Derek Twigg, FI Councillor, CBFSAI Brigadier Nick Davies and Major General (Rtd) Hunt RM at 18:56 hrs. At 19:00 hrs (weather permitting) there will be a flypast. The service and dedication will commence at 19:05 hrs with musical accompaniment provided by the Band of the Prince of Wales Division. During the service there will be a two minute silence marked by the playing of the Last Post and Reveille. This will be followed by the laying of wreaths led by HE the Governor. At the conclusion of the service the Veterans will march to Victory Green led by the Band of the Price of Wales Division to witness a short dedication service and the gifting of two park benches to the community by SAMA. These will be received by 3 young representatives from the Girl Guides, Sea Cadets and Scouts. Gilbert House warmly invites all members of the public to attend the events and considers appropriate for medals and decorations to be worn. The Falkland Islands government also invites all residents to the farewell public reception to SAMA 25 to be held on Monday November 12 at the FIDF headquarters between 19:00 and 21:00 hours. The public reception is sponsored by the FIG, SODEXHO and SERCO.
