This Wednesday the former Royal Navy HMS Marlborough will officially fly the colors of the Chilean Navy under the name of FF06 Almirante Condell.
This last frigate puts an end to Chile's renovation of its surface fleet under the project "Puente" which included the acquisition of three British frigates Type 23, FF05 "Almirante Cochrane", FF07 "Almirante Lynch" and FF06, "Almirante Condell", one Type 22 FF19 "Almirante Williams" plus four Dutch frigates Types M and L, FF15 "Almirante Blanco Encalada"; FF18 "Almirante Riveros"; FFG14, "Almirante Latorre", FFG11 "Capitán Prat". All Royal Navy frigates sold to the Chilean Navy at sometime were involved in the South Atlantic patrol. Under the command of Captain Jorge Cruz Jaramillo and with a crew of 18 officers and 161 sailors, FF06 "Almirante Condell" will be remaining the UK for a period of training before sailing for Chile. FF06 "Almirante Condell" is scheduled to arrive in Valparaíso at the end of the year. The official ceremony takes place in Portsmouth and will be headed by the Commander of the Chilean navy, Admiral Rodolfo Codina.
